Cousland Smiddy Funders
During 2020 and 2021, a programme of works was carried out funded by Tyne Esk Leader and Historic Environment Scotland, to restore and repair the pantiled roof, forge chimney stack (retaining it's quirky, historical 'lean'!) and replacing the rotten floor, using reclaimed old sleepers.
The bulk of the work was carried out by FA Sweeney, who made a wonderful job of restoration, allowing the smiddy to be used safely again for forging and welcoming visitors. Simpson & Brown oversaw the works.

Heritage Hub Funders
The Heritage Hub Project has been lucky enough to receive funding from The Heritage Lottery Fund (£9700.00) and Midlothian Council (£7,200.00) which has enabled the major building and environmental works to be carried out.
Midlothian Council Planning and Heritage Advisory Team have been very supportive of the works and we thank them for their input.
East Lothian Council Archaeology Service has donated £300 to the overall project and we have received a number of generous private donations towards it. £1000.00 was also received from Comic Relief Red Nose Day.
IKEA Edinburgh donated 50% of the value of display furniture for the Heritage Hub and gave interior & display design advice and Eastern Exhibitions of Musselburgh have donated professional fit out materials for our displays.
Local trades & Services have also worked above and beyond the contracts they received and we are very grateful to them for carrying out the works with enthusiasm.
